I love bales in the landscape, especially in the winter. It doesn't happen unless it snows before the farmers are able to get the bales out of the fields. The geometric shapes of the bales add an interesting and pleasing element into an otherwise somewhat empty landscape!
I studied at the University of Iowa's School of Art, where I majored in Photography and minored in two other mediums: Painting and Serigraphy. The landscape is a favored subject in my photography, paintings and drawings; while birds are a favorite subject in my serigraphy and drawings. The photographic landscape is treated in large and medium formats. In painting I prefer a plein air approach and these works are smaller in scale. My work in serigraphy plays upon a more graphic approach of shape, color and line. My interests have always been torn between the camera and the canvas, between birds and the landscape; now particularly the "Prairie".
