Summer Along Angler's Bay is a small color pencil drawing of a beautifully natural area about 50 miles northeast of the studio. Although this lake has been populated by summer homes, I've tried to create a sense of being yet untouched by modern man...this is what it may have looked like in pre-settlement times.
I studied at the University of Iowa's School of Art, where I majored in Photography and minored in two other mediums: Painting and Serigraphy. The landscape is a favored subject in my photography, paintings and drawings; while birds are a favorite subject in my serigraphy and drawings. The photographic landscape is treated in large and medium formats. In painting I prefer a plein air approach and these works are smaller in scale. My work in serigraphy plays upon a more graphic approach of shape, color and line. My interests have always been torn between the camera and the canvas, between birds and the landscape; now particularly the "Prairie". I grew up in the timber of the Des Moines River valley in NW Iowa and later in my life became...
