Artist's Description
Always something going on in our prairie pasture here at the studio. The Red Admiral Butterfly is a very common one and easy to approach. The Swamp Milkweed is a very striking prairie flower up close and the marriage of the two seemed like a nice fit!
About Bruce Morrison
I studied at the University of Iowa's School of Art, where I majored in Photography and minored in two other mediums: Painting and Serigraphy. The landscape is a favored subject in my photography, paintings and drawings; while birds are a favorite subject in my serigraphy and drawings. The photographic landscape is treated in large and medium formats. In painting I prefer a plein air approach and these works are smaller in scale. My work in serigraphy plays upon a more graphic approach of shape, color and line. My interests have always been torn between the camera and the canvas, between birds and the landscape; now particularly the "Prairie". I grew up in the timber of the Des Moines River valley in NW Iowa and later in my life became...
