Artist's Description

The Ring-necked Pheasant roosters do a lot of strutting and crowing during the spring and summer around the studio acreage. This particular bird would wake us up at the same hour every morning for several weeks, with it "crowing" call...trying to attract the ladies and declaring its territory!

About Bruce Morrison

Bruce Morrison

I studied at the University of Iowa's School of Art, where I majored in Photography and minored in two other mediums: Painting and Serigraphy. The landscape is a favored subject in my photography, paintings and drawings; while birds are a favorite subject in my serigraphy and drawings. The photographic landscape is treated in large and medium formats. In painting I prefer a plein air approach and these works are smaller in scale. My work in serigraphy plays upon a more graphic approach of shape, color and line. My interests have always been torn between the camera and the canvas, between birds and the landscape; now particularly the "Prairie". I grew up in the timber of the Des Moines River valley in NW Iowa and later in my life became...
